 | Help us thank and recognize the sacrifices made by our nation’s servicemen and servicewomen during Veterans Appreciation Day on Sept. 17. The festivities will begin at 10:30 a.m. near the entrance of Panther Stadium prior to the football team’s noon matchup against the Michigan Tech Huskies. The event will include a military color guard, which will present the colors and a military-themed halftime performance by the ODU Marching Band. A free pregame tailgate will be held in the parking lot with beverages, food and entertainment. This year’s honorary captains are Mark Kelnhofer ’93, MBA ’05 and Dr. Ron Carstens. Kelnhofer is an adjunct professor and founding member of the PATRIOTS Program Advisory Committee. He also is a veteran of the U.S. Army and Ohio National Guard. Dr. Carstens is the longest serving member of our faculty and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He has been a strong advocate for and supporter of veterans at ODU.
